1. Click on the Cite link (the quotation mark icon) below the reference you want to import.

2. Choose the RefWorks link which appears below the citation formats. The citations and RefWorks export are not linked - you do not need to choose a citation format first.

3. Your reference will be imported in to your Last Imported folder in your RefWorks account. You may also be asked which folder you would like to import your references to at this stage.
You can change your Google Scholar settings to enable direct import in to RefWorks with one click. To do this access Settings from the three horizontal lines at the top left hand side of the screen.

Then in the Bibliographic Manager section; select Show links to import citations into and then choose RefWorks from the drop down menu. Click Save.

Each record in your Google Scholar results list will have an Import into RefWorks link as shown in the screenshot below. Click on this to import the reference into your account.

You can export multiple references from the 'My Library' area of Google Scholar. You need to have a Google account to use this feature. References can be added to your Library using the Save option under each item in your results list. Find out more about Google Scholar library on the Google Scholar help pages.
It is important to check and edit information captured by Google Scholar. References captured very rarely include the DOI and can be incomplete. See advice on the Editing page of this guide to improve information captured from Google Scholar.
1. Choose which references you want to send to RefWorks - this could be 'All references' or references from a Google Scholar library list you have created.
2. Click on Export all and choose RefMan format - as shown in the screenshot below. If there is more than one page of results, you will be asked to choose between all references displayed or all references with the same tag.

4. This will download a .RIS file. You do not need to open the file.
5. From within your RefWorks account, click on the Add a reference option (plus symbol) and choose Import references.
5. Under Import a reference, click on Other file types.
6. Click on the text select file from your computer and choose the downloaded .ris file. Alternatively drag and drop the .ris file into RefWorks.
