Information for externals:

Can I use the library if I am not a current student nor member of staff of ARU?

The University Library is here to support staff and students of ARU. We have reciprocal use agreements and allow some other access to those external to ARU in some circumstances.

What can I borrow?

Full details of borrowing entitlements for different groups can be found on our Researcher, partner and public access page.

Conditions of use

You must abide by the conditions of use:
  • Please bring Photo ID when you collect your membership card at our helpdesk.
  • Access is usually granted for up to a year for Alumni and Reference memberships and may be renewed. SCONUL Access membership is defined by the date provided by the home institution.
  • Respect the rights and privacy of others
  • Respect the property of the University and that of students, employees and visitors
  • You are not allowed to sleep on University premises. If staff find you asleep, they will wake you and ask you to leave.
  • Reference users may only use items to refer to on site. Access to electronic resources is dictated by the Suppliers licence agreement.
  • Behaviour is expected to be appropriate for the study zone you are in and show respect for others studying here.
  • Take appropriate action when you see others acting inappropriately, which includes bringing it to the attention of the University rather than intervening yourself.
If you are being disturbed by noise/other poor behaviour just text us to let us know, and we will attend. Texts are charged at your standard network rate. We won't reply to your text.
