Zotero: Adding references from Google Scholar

A guide to using the reference management tool Zotero.

Adding references from Google Scholar

To export references from Google Scholar you will need a Google Scholar account.

  • Save selected results by clicking on the save (star) icon.

Results will be saved into My Library which can be accessed from the three horizonal line 'burger' menu in the top left hand corner of your screen. You will have the option to create folders within My Library. It is a good idea to save the items you want to add to Zotero in a separate folder because the only option available to you is to export the entire contents of a folder.

  • Go to My Library, select the correct folder and select Export all.
  • Select the RefMan option.

This will create a file in your downloads folder but you will be able to open file directly from the pop-up window on your screen.

You can choose to import the references into a new collection (folder) in Zotero.
