Screen layout: The draft list view is dynamic and changes with your screen size. Larger screens show a split screen with options to add materials displayed on the right hand side. Smaller screens are not split but allow you to add materials at a specific location within the list.
1. Search for your item under Add materials to your list. Please add items from the "ARU Library Search" option as shown below and do not use the "Kortext" option:

2. Add a specific item using the Plus symbol to the left of an item and choose the destination section when prompted.
3. For books, choose to either add the whole book or a chapter recommendation using radio buttons to the right of your item. Choosing 'Chapter' opens a form to enter specific details.
4. Refresh the screen to return to the starting point or search for another item.
5. Items will be added to the top of the destination section.
Small screen display: Items can be added at specific points of the list by clicking on the page/plus icon at the head of each section, or above each item on the list - Add new item in section and Add new item after this one respectively.
If you have a Level 4 module you will see a section called "Key Text" at the top of the screen. This is where the e-textbook will appear for students to access and will be populated for you by the Library team. There is no need to add anything to this section. You are welcome to add items and sections to the rest of the list. More details about the e-textbook scheme is available on our guide to E-textbooks by Kortext.
Use Manual Add to add and request books and journal articles not available through Library Search
1. Choose the format you would like to add. Expand the Other drop-down menu to see additional formats such as Chapter, as shown in the image below:

2. Complete the format specific form with as much detail as you can.
3. Save changes by clicking Add to List at the bottom of the form.
Connecting your students to Library content is recommended whenever possible.
You may wish to recommend a specific chapter of a book to students. You can do this using a note on the book record but can also add a specific chapter record. Adding a chapter record is recommended if a digital copy of a chapter in a print book is needed.
1. To add a chapter record, first locate the book using steps under 'Adding items' or 'Manually adding items' on this page
2. Choose the Chapter radio button and click on the plus symbol as shown in the image below:

3. This opens a form where you can add details of the specific section you require.
4. Complete the form with as much detail as you can. Fields to complete include Section author(s), Chapter name, Chapter number, and Page range as shown in the image below. Use the ADD button to add section authors once typed/pasted.

5. Click Save on the form and then Finish to add the chapter to your list.
Individual items can be copied and pasted from one section to another section within a list. Whole list contents, individual sections, or individual items can be copied and added to, or moved to, another list.
Section details are copied across when copying or moving items between lists.
Items are added to the equivalent section if it already exists in the destination list.
Please note: items are copied to the list in DRAFT and therefore not immediately visible to students. Publish the list to make changes visible.
The same book cannot appear more than once in a section (or different subsections of a parent section)
Useful to copy the same book or article to different sections if relevant for different topics/weeks.

Useful to populate a new list if reading is essentially the same as an existing list
To populate a new list list with copied content

Useful where multiple modules share the same list. Changes to one can be copied to others.
Section information is moved with each item. If a section of the same name exists within the destination list, items will be put into that section (names are case sensitive). If the imported section is not needed, individual items can be moved within the destination list and the empty section then deleted.
Please note, if you choose to Move material from one list to another, the moved material is removed from the original list.
Individual items can be moved by dragging and dropping using the cross-hairs button.
Items can also be copied within a list. Useful for longer lists where dragging may be time consuming.
