Medicine: EBSCO database changes

Guide for medicine, surgery and physician associates

New interface for Medline, CINAHL plus and other EBSCO databases

EBSCOhost database searching is changing on 5th August. You will see new features from this date and over the following few weeks as EBSCO roll out updates.

We have some great databases through EBSCO, –  Medline, Cinahl Plus, PsycInfo and other education, management and mental health/psychology resources. You will still be able to access their content and carry out flexible, quality searches but with an improved experience.

Find out about the new layout and features from EBSCOhost support guides. Subject Librarians will be ready to support students and staff following the change. Contact us with any questions.

Folders - saved searches, articles, and alerts (existing users please note)

You can create a personal account on EBSCOhost after logging in with Library login. This lets you save searches and articles and receive subject updates. The following information is for people who have an account and saved data in the existing system.

  • Searches and articles saved to My Folders area will transfer to the new interface under My Dashboard. We strongly recommend that you note the technical detail from EBSCO
  • Data in Custom folders will not be transferred. EBSCO have provided instructions for obtaining custom folder data after 5th August if needed. Searches will need to be re-run and saved in the new interface.
  • Alerts will need to be re-created in the new interface.
