Mechanical Engineering: Introduction

Specialist resources for students studying mechanical engineering.

How to use this guide

Each section of your Subject Guide will be useful for different assignments and stages of your course so it is recommended that you click through the different headings to familiarise yourself with the main resources you will need most often. It is a good idea to check the Databases section as these are the main resources you will need to find up to date academic research.

Treat this guide as a hub of information that brings together the main resources you need in one places without lots of searching.

The IEEE Xplore database brings all the journals published by IEEE together in one place, making it easier to cross search for relevant articles, standards, conferences papers, and technical reports for you to use in your assignments.

Use IEEE Xplore to keep up to date with emerging technologies and current issues in your field as they develop.

Exam papers

You can find a list of past exam papers on the MyARU Library page

Not all exam papers are available here so your search may not return results. The Library gives access to those papers released by the Exams Office. Please contact the Exams Office for any queries about the availability of past papers: cambexams@aru.ac.uk or essexexams@aru.ac.uk.
